Powerball Winning Numbers Results May 6: $80 Million Up For Grabs — Are You The Jackpot Winner?
Did anyone win the Powerball $80 million jackpot on Wednesday night? Check your ticket to see if you have the winning numbers for the May 6 drawing — you may be the lottery’s newest multi-millionaire.
The Powerball drawing takes place at approximately 11 p.m. ET. The results will be posted here shortly after the numbers are drawn, or you can watch the live drawing on any of these local TV stations.

Wednesday night’s drawing is the second for the month of May, and the fifth drawing since a lucky ticket holder in Puerto Rico won the $50 million Powerball jackpot on April 18. There were two grand prize winners in the month of April — in addition to the winner in Puerto Rico, one person in McDavid, Florida matched all six numbers and took home $70 million.
While the last drawing on May 2 did not produce a jackpot winner, there were two $1 million tickets sold in Massachusetts and New York, and another ticket sold in Massachusetts that is worth $2 million. According to M Live, two tickets matched five numbers (no Powerball), with each winner getting $1 million. The other ticket was worth $2 million because the ticket holder paid an extra $1 for the Power Play feature.
Wednesday night’s jackpot is worth $80 million, but the big check from lottery headquarters won’t be for the full amount. According to CNN Money, the Internal Revenue Service will automatically take 25 percent of any prize over $5,000. The prize will also push the winner into the highest tax bracket where he or she will owe 39.6 percent of the income to Uncle Sam.
For winners who want their payout in a lump sum, the approximate cash value of the $80 million jackpot is $52.1 million before taxes. If an annuity is selected, yearly payments of approximately $2 million each will be issued to the winner once per year over 30 years.
Even if you don’t win the $80 jackpot, you could win a non-jackpot prize worth anywhere from $4 to $1 million. If you have old tickets sitting in a drawer, or at the bottom of your purse, check to see if you matched any numbers from the previous five drawings.

Powerball winning numbers are picked at approximately 11 p.m. ET on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Tickets are $2 each ($1 extra for the Power Play) and can be purchased at lottery retailers in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
