Army Captain Sarah Cudd Finishing Expert Field Medical Badge Video Goes Viral

The video of Army Captain Sarah Cudd finishing the Expert Field Medical Badge test has gone viral and captured the hearts of millions of Americans in the process. Captain Cudd was heralded for her determination during the 12-mile march. The Army captain was shown falling down, and then pushing her body to get back up once again to pass the grueling EFMB test.

Captain Sarah Cudd has “heart” according to School Expert Field Medical Badge Program Manager Lloyd A. Mason. Cudd completed the EFMB test in late April, but the video went viral this week after it was posted on Facebook.

Ironically, the Sarah Cudd story went viral the same day it was revealed that the FDNY allowed a woman, Rebecca Wax, to become a firefighter even though she was unable to pass the mandatory Functional Skills Training Test. The “lowered standards” in regards to the test were reportedly enacted to permit more women to join the FDNY.

Lloyd A. Manson posted the Sarah Cudd video on Facebook, and it has now garnered more than 1.2 million views. The Expert Field Medical Badge video shows the soldier falling to the ground, near exhaustion, several times. The Army captain was just a few feet from the finish line when she began to show significant signs of physical struggle. Soldiers surrounded Cudd’s path, shouting words of encouragement and cheering her to the finish line.

Captain Sarah Cudd was reportedly one of 46 candidates who earned the Expert Field Medical Badge during the Fort Dix test march. The 12-mile march must be completed within three hours in order to pass the test. The requirements for the EFMB badge are the same for both men and women.
