Manny Pacquiao Surgery: Could This Result In A Rematch With Floyd Mayweather?
Manny Pacquiao is getting surgery after it was revealed that he entered the historic fight on Saturday with Floyd Mayweather with an unseen handicap. He wasn’t at the top of his game when he entered the Las Vegas ring with a shoulder injury.
The injury was the reason PacMan allegedly gave for why his patented punch was missing, costing him his chance to take the belt from Mayweather. His right shoulder had suffered a major tear in his rotator cuff, and instead of calling off the fight or reporting the injury, he let his fans down and could even be suspended.
The report came from Dr. Neal ElAttrache, a surgeon known for working on major athletes such as Kobe Bryant and Tom Brady, says the Bleacher Report.
Manny Pacquiao’s surgery will take up to an estimated year to heal, having been possibly aggravated by his attempt to take down the champion. The previously unreported injury could eventually lead to a rematch if the fight on Saturday is questioned and the fans demand it.
Had PacMan won the fight, it would have been a match to remember, since the Filipino fighter would have overcome the undefeated welterweight champion with a bad shoulder. Had that happened, the boxing world might have called Mayweather’s condition into question and demanded a rematch anyway.
The Nevada Athletic Commission might be Pacquiao’s next big fight, as one of the questions on the pre-fight checklist was “Have you had any injury to your shoulders, elbows, or hands that needed evaluation or examination?” The fighter allegedly gave them false information and could be fined or suspended, and even charged with perjury, according to the Washington Post.

It was allegedly the lack of information that led to PacMan’s team not giving him a possibly game-changing shoulder injection.
As Manny Pacquiao finally faces surgery, his future holds one fact for certain. PacMan’s game is over for probably another year, after which Mayweather is open to a rematch.
