‘Supernatural’ Spoilers — Will Someone Die? [Video]

[Warning: This article contains spoilers for the upcoming episode of Supernatural, “Dark Dynasty.”]

Recent episodes of Supernatural have seen the classic themes of mistrust and deception emerging once again, with Sam (Jared Padalecki) concealing the truth about the Book of the Damned from Dean (Jensen Ackles). As is always the case when one brother hides the truth from the other, Supernatural is headed for an explosive head-to-head collision. No one seems to be talking about what this may mean for our favorite Supernatural characters, but Jared Padalecki did reveal one thing worth looking forward to before the season’s conclusion.

“Sam does have a lot of darkness in him, so does Dean. I think it’s one of the themes that, as long as Supernatural is alive, that theme is going to be around. Both of these guys are struggling with their demons, struggling with their past.”

The CW network is a little more forthcoming with their Supernatural spoilers, releasing a tantalizing new teaser along with this plot summary for the new Supernatural episode.

“Dean and Sam are going to investigate a bizarre murder and realize the killer bears the same tattoo as those from the Styne family. Eldon Styne will attack Dean and a brutal fight will ensue. Meanwhile, Castiel is going to act as referee when Charlie and Rowena are forced to work together on the Book of the Damned. Crowley will discover his mother is missing and knows she’s up to something so he will turn to an old enemy for help.”

As Castiel says, “this never ends well.”

As Supernatural fans have come to know through some of the most stressful storylines in the show’s 10-year run, when Winchester battles Winchester, there is always collateral damage, and the return of Felicia Day so close to the end of Supernatural‘s season does not bode well for the character of Charlie Bradbury.

More than merely returning to Supernatural, Charlie finds herself drawn into the middle of the brotherly battle, which seems to be the primary focus of “Dark Dynasty.” As some have pointed out, strong female characters rarely, if ever, last long in the Supernatural realm. Sometimes they simply leave, but, more often than not, they die a gruesome, grisly death suitable for Supernatural‘s finest hunters.

There’s more suggesting a premature demise for Charlie in this week’s Supernatural. As though having the deceptions and feud between the Winchesters wouldn’t be enough, the Styne family also returns, making it seem as though a typically classic Supernatural tragedy is inevitable for Charlie.

It would certainly be unfortunate to lose Charlie, especially after Felicia Day has made such a strong effort to make her Supernatural character so lifelike and endearing, but it seems she can hardly get put in the middle of Sam and Dean’s private war only to come away unscathed.

There’s always Rowena (Ruth Connell), but, even in Supernatural, demons seem to outlast heroes.

Supernatural airs Wednesday on the CW.
