Techniques To Help You Fall Asleep In Just 60 Seconds Without Taking Sleeping Pills Or Counting Sheep

A lot of people have a hard time falling to sleep at night. They toss and turn before finally dozing off. According to the Daily Mail, Harvard-trained Dr. Andrew Weill has come up with a technique that will help anyone fall to sleep within 60 seconds.

When you use Dr. Weill’s method, you no longer have to take a hot bath, drink warm milk, take sleeping pills, or count sheep.

The 4-7-8 breathing technique has been described as a natural tranquilizer for the nervous system to reduce tension in the body. It involves regulating a person’s breathing to various counts of 4, 7, and 8 to allow oxygen to fill the lungs, calm the mind, and relax muscles.

  1. Exhale completely through your mouth while making a “whoosh” sound.
  2. Close your mouth and inhale quietly through your nose to a mental count of four.
  3. Hold your breath for a count of seven.
  4. Exhale completely through your mouth, and make another whoosh sound for eight seconds in one large breath.
  5. Inhale again and repeat the cycle three times for a total of four breaths.

When doing this technique, notice that you always inhale quietly through your nose, and you exhale audibly through your mouth. The tip of your tongue stays in position the whole time. Notice also that exhalation takes twice as long as inhalation.

Dr. Andrew Weill stands behind his technique and encourages people who can’t fall asleep to use his method.

“It is utterly simple, takes almost no time, requires no equipment, and can be done anywhere.”

Dr. Weill’s technique is based on pranayama, an ancient Indian practice that means “regulation of breath.”

Dr. Weill suggests that if his method doesn’t work when you first try it, don’t give up. Practice the technique twice a day for four to eight weeks until you have mastered it enough to fall asleep in just 60 seconds.

You can develop the breathing technique by practicing it twice every day. Then it will be a very useful tool you can use for things other than falling asleep. Use it whenever you feel anxious, or when you get upset. Use it whenever you experience internal tension. Use it to curb food cravings.

The National Sleep Foundation gives tips for falling asleep that include breathing techniques similar to Dr. Weill’s breathing method.

Do you think Dr. Weill’s breathing technique can help you fall asleep within 60 seconds? Would you be willing to try the technique to see if it really work?
