Charlize Theron, Sean Penn Wedding ‘Details’ Emerge After Only 18 Months Of Dating

Charlize Theron and Sean Penn are reportedly going to marry in August after only 18 months of dating.

The Daily Star have alleged that the Hollywood starlets are going to exchange vows in Johannesburg, South Africa, which is Theron’s home-town, and a variety of actors and celebrities are set to hit the city.

The aforementioned publication’s source has alleged that the duo will marry on August 7, which is coincidentally her 40th birthday.

“They are going to slip away to South Africa and get married in August, probably on Charlize’s birthday. It’ll be a small affair, very intimate in Johannesburg, which is Charlize’s home town… They have been looking at chapels in Soweto and a string quartet has been approached to perform.”

It’s also just a few days before Sean Penn’s August 17 birthday, which will see him turn 55. There have previously been rumors that Theron and Penn were engaged in July, 2014, after she was spotted wearing a sparkling ring while in the L.A. airport in July, 2015, according to the New York Daily News, via Glamour Magazine.

If this information proves to be true, it will be Sean Penn’s third marriage. Penn was previously married to Madonna between 1985 and 1989, while he exchanged vows with actress Robin Wright in 1996 before the pair ultimately divorced in 2010.

Charlize Theron has never been married. However, she dated the Irish actor Stuart Townsend between 2001 and 2010. Theron adopted her son, Jackson, in March, 2012.

Charlize Theron and Sean Penn originally started dating in June, 2014, and while out promoting her upcoming turn in Mad Max: Fury Road, the actress has been waxing lyrical about Penn.

While speaking to Extra, via Daily Mail, Theron admitted that she’s interested in adding to her family, while also insisting that she is a free-spirit.

“Yeah. I mean, I’m so open to anything in my life. I was never like, ‘Oh god no just one.’ I was always kind of open to whatever kind of happens.”

Back in January, Sean Penn told Esquire U.K. that he’s never been in a better relationship that the one he’s currently entangled in with Theron. In fact, Penn insists that this is “more passionate, deeper, truer” than his marriages, while Penn even explained why if he did marry Theron it would be his first marriage.

“You say I’ve been married twice before, but I’ve been married under circumstances where I was less informed than I am today. So I wouldn’t even consider it a third marriage, I’d consider it a first marriage on its own terms if I got married again.”
