Bethenny Frankel Reveals How Checking The Wrong Box Cost Her Millions

Bethenny Frankel may be at the top of her game now, but it wasnt always that way. In an interview with Business Insider, Bethenny Frankel revealed how one simple mistake cost her millions.

“I learned so many lessons launching Skinnygirl, which is why I wrote a book called I Suck At Relationships So You Don’t Have To. In my business life, I’ve learned way more from my mistakes to ultimately achieve success. I’ve made so many mistakes. I have checked off the wrong box in a way to be paid, and I think I checked I had to be an S Corp verse a LLC, or vice versa, and it ended up costing me millions of dollars.”

Bethenny Frankel explained that while she now has a legal team who works with her to explain documents and contracts, it wasn’t always that way. In fact, prior to landing her gig with Bravo and later launching Skinnygirl, she simply didn’t have the funds needed to have a legal team backing her up.

“By the same token, I’ve made a lot of great decisions. I’ve decided in season of Housewives, when I got paid $7,250 for the entire season, my only thing that I wanted in my contract was that everything I did in my work was mine.”

Bethenny Frankel went on to say that because of the “Bethenny Clause” she was exempt from giving a portion of her business to Bravo. Typically, when reality stars launch a brand, which is featured on their series, the network takes a percentage, but because she made sure her Skinnygirl brand was all her own, Bravo got nothing.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Bethenny Frankel hasn’t been successful in everything she’s done. Years ago, after landing a deal for her own talk show, Frankel went on to shoot a season, but sadly, the show, Bethenny, was canceled before the entire season even aired. In an interview with Haute Living, via Page Six, Frankel revealed what went wrong.

“[The talk show] was way more constricting — it was like directing traffic. It was way more filtered and edited than I like to be.?.?. I have a mouth for nighttime and I can’t be shackled.”

Bethenny Frankel starred on The Real Housewives of New York City for Seasons 1 through 3 before leaving and starring on her own series. After three seasons, Frankel left reality television altogether, but returned to The Real Housewives of New York City for the latest season, which airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
