Driving Drunk Text: Fatal Crash Happens 3 Minutes After Chilling Text Was Sent

A driving drunk text was sent from a woman to her ex-boyfriend just minutes before she caused a fatal car crash in Miami, Florida. According to the New York Daily News, Mila Dago had been out drinking with a friend after breaking things off with a boyfriend. Mila got behind the wheel that night and sent a text message to her ex, telling him that she was driving drunk — and three minutes later, she crashed into a truck. Her friend, Irina Reinoso, who was riding in the passenger’s seat, was killed. She was just 22-years-old.

“Driving drunk woo… I’ll be dead thanks to you,” read the text.

The man in the truck was knocked unconscious, but was okay following the accident. He says that being hit by s Smart Car likely saved his life. Dago walked away from the accident with a few minor bruises.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Dago pleaded not guilty to charges including DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and two counts of DUI with damage to a person. Dago, 24, was arrested back in January. She posted bond, and is currently on house arrest while she awaits her trial.

Meanwhile, Reinoso’s family has filed a lawsuit against Dago. Her attorney says that his client will not comment publicly on the case out of respect for Irina’s family.

“Ms. Dago, who, with her family, prays every day for the young woman who passed and her family, believes it is disrespectful to the young woman’s family to publicly comment.”

The driving drunk text wasn’t the only message received by Dago’s ex-boyfriend that night. According to ABC 7, Dago was having a bit of a text fight with this guy prior to the crash.

“Have a nice life idiot… I’m tired of having to put [up with] you [and] your short temper and unreasonable attitude,” Dago wrote in one of the messages.

“I’m done you ruined me…you’ll be the death of me,” read another text.

It is unclear why the two broke up, or how long they had been dating, but it certainly seems like there was a lot of resentment there.

According to CBS News, there is no way that Dago should have been behind the wheel of a car.

“Blood tests revealed that Dago’s blood alcohol level was.178, more than twice the legal limit, nearly two hours after the crash, according to police.”
