John Kasich White House Run ‘Looks Pretty Good,’ Ohio Governor Says

John Kasich says the White House run “looks pretty good.” The Ohio Governor once again discussed his presidential plans during the Sunday morning news shows. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Governor Kasich said he had no desire to be vice-president.

Governor Kasich created a political action committee several weeks ago to explore a possible White House run. During an interview on the Fox News Sunday show on Fox News, John Kasich said he will not be able to raise the “kind of money Jeb Bush” can to run for president, but feels he can garner enough in donations to be “competitive.”

“The results here in Ohio give me, I think, a lot of credibility for our team to be able to move forward,” Kasich added.

The Ohio Governor has already made two trips to New Hampshire and is planning a third to the state in the near future. John Kasich has also reportedly visited South Carolina and several other states, which traditionally play a key role in the presidential nomination process.

During the 1990s, Kasich was the House Budget Committee chairman and was touted for the role he played in generating several years of budget surpluses. Kasich easily won re-election last year by carrying 86 of Ohio’s 88 counties and by earning 64 percent of the ballots cast.

“You want to be President? You better win Ohio,” Kasich also added during the Fox News interview with Chris Wallace.

“I’m not sure I want to sound like a candidate. I just want to sound like an American who’s trying to make this country a heck of a lot stronger. Not a (typical) politician… but somebody that’s going to go in, do the job, not pay attention to all the special interest groups, change the status quo, shift power out of Washington and get America on the track again with strength in our military as well.”

During a Sunday morning news show last week, Kasich also addressed a White House run on CNN.

“If I should be successful in raising sort of that seed money, then I think the next step is to see if people like what I have to say. I’ve taken another big step, for me, which is to create a political organization to begin to accumulate more resources so I can travel more robustly and begin to think about infrastructure.”
