Mom, Cops, 10-Year-Old: Mom Has Son, 10, ‘Arrested’ To Teach Him A Lesson, Cops In Trouble?

A mom called the cops on her 10-year-old son, and had him “arrested” after he was misbehaving. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Chiquita Hill wanted her son, Sean, to learn a lesson, so she called police in Georgia after she found out that there was a problem at school. A little while later, police showed up at her home, and put Sean in handcuffs. The child was seen crying in photos, and was forced to spend a few minutes in the back of a police car — something that he really didn’t like.

While Hill’s decision has been met with a bit of controversy, many people think that she did the right thing. And she has defended her actions since.

“I’m glad I did this. He will be 11 this month. He’s hitting that pre-teen age. … I understand that he will be going through changes. … But with all the things going on in Missouri and in Baltimore, I want to stop anything from happening while he’s young and impressionable.”

The mom who called the cops on her 10-year-old posted about the ordeal on Facebook, and her story soon went viral. People are still talking about whether or not this sort of “punishment” was beneficial to this young boy’s life, and whether Hill made a good decision by involving police in the disciplining of her son.

ABC News reports that Sean was very scared, especially when a police officer turned his car lights on, and drove a couple of inches.

Police chief Lem Miller said that the officers who assisted in this “fake arrest” didn’t seek permission to do so.

“We totally understand that they were trying to do a good thing, but in hindsight, we’re not in the business of pretending to arrest somebody. It could very well scare the kid straight, but on the other hand, it could possibly hurt them and make them think even worse of us [the police] down the road. They’re very impressionable children at the age of ten. We’re not chastising the officers for it. They thought they were doing a good thing and I appreciate that…. But in this litigious society that we live in, we can’t just go out and pretend to arrest anybody.”

According to Q13 Fox, Hill said that Sean ran out of the police car (after the ordeal was over) and gave her a hug. She also said that he apologized to her, and that he has been doing better in school since.
