Sam Smith is rocking his slimmer body after his weight loss success, and his nutritionist is singing the pop singer’s praises after he shed 14 pounds in 14 days, reported People.
Meet Sam’s secret weight loss weapon, Amelia Freer, who authored Eat. Nourish. Glow. She was thrilled when Smith chose to post his pounds-lost-pride online.
“It’s very nice for me to see the results that I do get with my clients,” revealed Freer.
And in addition to her pleasure in Sam’s success, Amelia feels that he is inspiring others to get healthy.
“By someone like Sam talking about how he’s changed his diet in a healthy way without a deprivational, horrible diet, it’s opened it up to thousands of people who are now following in his footsteps. Sam has a lot of young fans, and how cool that these young kids are starting to take care of what they are eating. To me, that’s beyond awesome and a dream come true.”
As for the diet? Freer reassures those who think that shedding 14 pounds in 14 days isn’t healthy or that it requires a fad diet.
“Usually for people who have that weight to lose it can happen quite dramatically, quite quickly. But it’s absolutely done safely, nothing faddy or starvation or deprivation happening here,” emphasized the nutritionist.
Those on her diet eat protein (lean meat and fish), vegetables (everything from leafy greens to cauliflower), citrus fruits, eggs, and healthy fats such as avocado. Freer puts a big focus on learning to create your own meals using high quality foods, such as organic produce.
“It’s not about being perfect, it’s not about focusing on your weight, it’s about about cooking your food from scratch. Start with one meal a day and build it up. That, for me, is the foundation of good health,” she declared.
Amelia also takes the negative away from foods often thought of as fattening, including butter.
“Go for it,” cheered the nutritionist.
For those who are allergic to dairy or can’t tolerate lactose, she suggests coconut oil.
“It’s a natural source of saturated fat, but it’s been shown to help us lose weight and have more energy. It’s not meant to be eaten in abundance, but it’s a good alternative to butter,” added Freer.
As the Inquisitr reported, Amelia’s food plan is a Paleo-style low carb diet. Just as with the Paleo diet guidelines, the nutritionist emphasizes the importance of avoiding processed foods, particularly those with added sugar.
Freer says that she uses a lifestyle approach rather than a conventional diet.
“The key is about it being real, getting back in the kitchen, cooking from scratch, making sure they are not relying on junk, processed, convenience food,” explained Amelia.
For the 22-year-old singer, losing weight is a goal that he’s desired since he was a chubby child, reported ABC News. Smith views “Stay With Me” as a turning point.
“Before I made this record I was doing everything to try and get my music heard, I tried to lose weight and I was making awful music,” he revealed.
But now his life has changed personally and professionally.
“It’s not even about weight loss it’s about feeling happy in yourself,” shared Smith.
