Will Britain’s Three Million Muslims Vote For A Jewish Prime Minister?

British Muslims will find themselves in a unique situation next week when they go to the polls to vote for the next Prime Minister of Britain. One of the two options is Labour’s Ed Miliband, who just happens to be Jewish.

While Barack Obama made history by becoming America’s first black president, it remains to be seen whether or not the people of Great Britain are ready to have a Jewish prime minister leading the nation.

The fact that Miliband is Jewish should make no difference, especially in the leftist-leaning circles in which he moves. However, Britain’s nearly three million Muslims, who almost all traditionally vote Labour, will have a dilemma before them regarding Miliband.

Despite being Jewish, Miliband is a sometimes fierce critic of Israel and has called for the establishment of a Palestinian state. Regardless, Muslims will no doubt have a hard time voting for him in the general elections in Britain this coming Thursday.

According to the latest reports, Miliband has vowed to commission a giant stone inscription bearing Labour’s six election pledges that will be installed in the Downing Street Rose Garden if he becomes the next prime minister.

Miliband told reporters that for him, the stone would symbolize his commitment to keeping his election promises.

“Nick Clegg and David Cameron have helped erode trust in all political leaders by the way they broke promises on issues like tuition fees and immigration after the last election. If I am prime minister, I will keep our stone in a place where we can see it every day as a reminder of our duty to keep Labour’s promises,” he said.

Before any giant stones reminiscent of the 10 Commandments are erected, Miliband will have to garner plenty of votes from the people of Britain, including the three million Muslims who reside there.
