It’s official. Manny Pacquiao will win the fight against Floyd Mayweather. This conclusion was reached in the most scientific method available to a certain gaming news site.
That method involved simulating the fight in Nintendo’s latest entry to their fighting game franchise, Super Smash Bros. on Wii U. The Smash Bros. series takes icons from across Nintendo’s history of characters and pits them against each other to determine who would win.
If you want Mario to beat up Luigi and Princess Toadstool, Nintendo’s fighting game series is the place to make it happen.
Since Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather aren’t actually in the game, you may be wondering how the fight was simulated. There is a boxing character in the latest game called Little Mac, and Destructoid set him against himself in the character’s home turf, the boxing ring. While the game lets you take the fight outside the ring and on top of the light fixtures, researchers felt it was the most fitting of battlegrounds.

To set up the two clones from Punch-Out! and see if Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao wins, they gave Little Mac different colored outfits depending on the real life boxer. Floyd is said to be about the money, so that fighter was given the green garb. Pacquiao was given the red, white, and blue colors to represent the Filipino flag. Both of them were given full stats.
The fight was set to 36 minutes, to represent 12 rounds at three minutes each, and no weapons were allowed. It was also set so the round would go to whoever gets knocked out first, since no boxer worth his … boxers gets knocked out 27 times in one round.
The fight was fierce, with a lot of ducking, dodging, and punching, but in the end, the winner was clear. Both came close several times, but as Super Smash Bros. has shown, Manny Pacquiao wins.
