Russell Brand Wanted In New Orleans

An arrest warrant has been issued for comedian Russell Brand in New Orleans.

The warrant was issued after brand grabbed photographer Timothy Jackson’s iPhone and threw it through the window of a nearby law office. Reuters reports that the warrant is for suspicion of simple criminal damage which carries a $700 fine.

TMZ reports that Brand is currently in New Orleans filming a movie, so he shouldn’t be too hard to track down.

The British comedian has not directly commented about the legal issue, but did take to Twitter to poke fun at the incident. Brand said:

“Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.”

The New York Post reports that Brand has reached out to the law office and has offered to pay for fixing the window.

This, of course, isn’t Brand’s first run-in with the law. In 2010 Brand was arrested after an alleged attack on a photographer at the Los Angeles airport.
