“Pop star Britney Spears has canceled two of her Las Vegas shows after injuring her ankle in a fall during a performance. The ‘Toxic’ and ‘Circus’ singer took a tumble on Wednesday during one of her ‘Britney: Piece of Me’ residency concerts at Las Vegas’s Planet Hollywood resort and casino.”
“Britney injured her ankle during her performance Wednesday evening and her doctor has advised her not to perform Friday and Saturday evening so that she may heal,” Caesars Entertainment said in a statement. However, that hasn’t stopped Twitter from turning Britney’s painful fall into a reason to bash her.
@britneyspears wish you would have broken your neck instead of your ankle. You are an old, talentless has-been.

Britney Spears’ friend and mentor, Madonna, knows what it’s like to get torn apart after a stage fall.

Unlike Britney Spears, Madonna fell on live television. According to the Daily Mail, Madonna blamed the cape she was wearing for her fall at the Brit Awards.
“I’m a creature of habit and I rehearse everything — everything, everything, everything — and I was thrown a wrench at the very beginning of my entrance. I was told to tie my cape and start much further back than we had rehearsed so because I had to walk so much further, everybody was worried that my cape was going to slide off because it’s quite heavy so they tied it really tight around my neck. So here I am marching in like a queen and I got to the top of the stairs and I pulled my silky string and it would not come undone and my two lovely japanese dancers basically strangled me off the stage.”
Who can forget Beyonce’s epic tumble on stage in 2010 when singing “Irreplaceable“? Twitter wasn’t as cruel to Beyoncé as it was to Madonna and Britney Spears. However, Twitter wasn’t as mainstream in 2010 as it is now. If Beyoncé fell again, you could bet that there would be a lot of jokes and cruel pictures created.
After watching the vitriol come out this week when Britney Spears injured her ankle, one has to question why people enjoy seeing famous people fall so much. Are we jealous of their success and think they deserve to fall? Are female pop stars such as Britney Spears discriminated against more since they are women? Tell us what you think of Britney Spears’ fall and the reaction to it in the comments section.
