Jeremy Renner’s Dog Dies

Posted: March 15, 2012

It was a devastating weekend for The Hurt Locker actor Jeremy Renner as he mourned the loss of his dog, an 8 month-old miniature French bulldog named Franklin.

Franklin died suddenly during his babysitter date with Renner’s business partner and friend Kristoffer Winters. Winters decided to take Franklin to his nephew’s little league game, and the dog seemed to have fun running in 80 degree weather in Orange County.

Around 2 PM Kristoffer had left Renner’s pup, Franklin, with friends while getting a snack. It was around this time that 8 month-old Franklin collapsed on the field after throwing up and seizing. When Winters returned he found the dog lifeless in the arms of a woman.

Sources tell TMZ that 3 people tried to resuscitate Jeremy Renner’s dog, giving mouth to mouth, but their attempts remained futile and the dog passed away.

According to experts, French bulldog’s are susceptible to a myriad of health related problems, including heart problems which could be exacerbated by heat.

Renner is said to have been extremely close with his puppy Franklin, and is now devastated after his death, and deeply saddened. This news comes on the heels of Renner’s promotion for The Avengers.

Last December Renner told Details magazine about his love of his cream colored pooch saying, “Right now the only thing consistent in my life is that little dog. That’s why I got it. I was getting really lonely. I needed somebody or something to be there with me through the whole journey.”

I have a teacup Chihuahua named Mikaela. I often call her Mikki Mouse. I love her to death. She keeps me from being lonely. She's had two close calls to death and I feel very very sorry for Jeremy. My condolences Mr. Renner. I know how it feels to lose a family pet who's so close to you. I've experienced it myself, twice. They're your family. Your baby. I'm so sorry.
