Angela Bassett Heading To ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’
Another day, another American Horror Story: Hotel announcement. The new season doesn’t premiere until October, but we already have a very large cast list that’s making fans of the series very happy for season 5.
Creator Ryan Murphy announced yet another cast addition for the new season of American Horror Story. As the title suggests, it’s going to be none other than actress Angela Bassett. Bassett has been in two seasons of American Horror Story — American Horror Story: Freak Show and American Horror Story: Coven.

Prior to Bassett’s announcement, Ryan Murphy let the fans know that Sarah Paulson was also checking into American Horror Story: Hotel, despite her filming schedule for his other project American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.
At the time Paulson said, “My focus will always be on American Horror Story for as long as he’ll have me… I have never felt so completely seen by another director or producer or person before in terms of his willingness time and time again to give me something to do that I didn’t even think I was capable of doing. I don’t know why in the world I’d want to go elsewhere when I’m getting the best deal in town. I absolutely want to do season five.”
As for Bassett, she also had kind words to say about Ryan Murphy when asked about her versatile roles on the show.
“It’s phenomenal, and that comes out of Ryan Murphy and his love and appreciation of women. He had a man cut out his tongue for one!”
Other additional cast mates include leads Lady Gaga and Matt Bomer. Kathy Bates, Chloe Sevigny, Evan Peters, Wes Bentley, and Cheyenne Jackson are believed to take supporting roles in the upcoming season. As we know the big player that’s still missing is Jessica Lange, who after four seasons, has decided to leave the show in preparation for her retirement from acting.
