‘Dancing With The Stars 10th Anniversary Special’: Past And Present Celebrities Celebrated On The Dance Floor

In 2005, Dancing with the Stars started as a summer fill-in series. On April 28, the popular dance competition show celebrated ten years and featured 20 seasons of celebrities who have been competitors on Dancing With the Stars. Dancing With the Stars 10th Anniversary Special brought back past and present celebrities who celebrated on the dance floor in one big ballroom.

Us Weekly reported that Dancing With the Stars 10th Anniversary Special was a trip down memory lane for the 9.9 million viewers.

Entertainment Weekly called the special a star-studded hour. Some of the celebrities who returned were winners from their season, and some were not. It didn’t matter, because everyone was there to celebrate and to have a good time. They all had fun being with their old competitors.

First on the dance floor was Season 1 winner Kelly Monaco, who danced with Val Chmerkovskiy, even though Val did not join the show as a pro until Season 13. Kelly’s original partner was Alec Mazo.

Season 18 winners Meryl Davis and Maks Chmerkovskiy danced a sensual dance. Season 19 winners Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson danced, but they did not do the Carlton.

What was considered the best group performance of the night was a fantastic Latin Paso Doble, performed by all the NFL players, including Kurt Warner, Jerry Rice, Hines Ward, Donald Driver, Jacoby Jones, and Emmitt Smith. They come out on the dance floor wearing gold leather jackets and black pants. They danced for a while before female pro dancers joined them. However, it was fun to watch them dance without the women.

Sasha Farber stepped in to dance with Derek Hough’s former partners Maria Menounos, Amy Purdy, Kristi Yamaguchi, and Amber Riley. Mark Ballas danced with former partners Chelsea Kane and Katherine Jenkins, who is four months pregnant.

Although Patti LaBelle was eliminated in Week 6 of this current season, she returned to sing her hit song “Lady Marmalade.” She was joined by Lil Kim from Season 8 and Amber Riley, who was champion in Season 17.

The biggest number of the night came at the end when all of the stars, judges, and hosts did a coordinated dance similar to a hand jive as confetti poured over everyone.
