Free PlayStation Plus Games For PS4, PS3, And PSVita During May 2015

The PlayStation Blog has announced the free PlayStation Plus games for the month of May 2015. Subscribers to Sony’s premium service for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PS Vita will receive two games per system for the month as part of the Instant Game Collection. The collection this month is absent of any AAA titles, however the indie titles that are on center stage are nothing to gloss over. The excellent Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition arrives for the PlayStation 4 along with other worthy titles to keep recipients of the free PlayStation games busy for the month.

PlayStation 4

Subscribers to PS Plus will receive the aforementioned Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition. A 2D brawler/platformer hybrid saturated with Mexican folklore and aesthetic visuals mainly around the luchador. Borrowing exploration from touchstone games such as Super Metroid, as the player unlocks new abilities, new parts of the world become available for exploration.

Ether One is a break from the punching and into the world of dementia, not unlike Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Made by a six-person team in Manchester, England, Ether One casts the player as an employee of a memory retrieval company titled the Ether Institute of Telepathic Medicine. Jean Thompson is a 69- year old woman suffering from dementia and into her mind the player descends in order to piece together the story of her life.

PlayStation 3

The next three games are also cross buy for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. Race the Sun is described as a minimalist racing game where there are no opponents other than the sun continually setting in the distance.

The final game is The Unfinished Swan originally started as a tech demo in 2008 and caught the eye of Sony at the IGF. Under an incubation deal providing funding, office space, equipment, and mentoring from SCE Santa Monica, the game takes place in a completely white space where a boy named Monroe is in pursuit of a swan that has escaped its painting.

PS Vita

While Race the Sun may be the more relaxing of the free Playstation games, Hohokum is a game that is best described as a world filled near to the brim with color, zany characters, and a sense of plain silliness. It originally released in August 10 of 2014 and was featured in the Inquisitr‘s release list that week.

The final game for the PS Vita is Murasaki Baby, a puzzle game in an almost Tim Burton pencil art environment. The nightmarish landscape plays host to the gamer as they guide “Baby” through the troubling world in search of its home.
