‘Shake It Off’ Lip-Syncing Dover Police Officer Is Back With Dash Cam Duet [Video]

Cpl. Jeff Davis, an officer with the Dover Police Department and lip-synching star of the viral “Shake It Off” dash cam confessional has released a new video – this time with a friend.

His duet partner is Cpl. Demetrius Stevenson, a resource officer with Dover High School in Dover, DE. Stevenson is known as “Meat” to the students, according to Delaware Online, and was a natural choice for the video. He’s well-known among the student population since “he benches 550 pounds and is a pretty big guy,” said spokesman Mark Hoffman.

The video begins with Davis reprising part of his dance-along to “Shake It Up,” as he picks up Stevenson from the school. The pair then scour the radio for Top 40 hits.

Singing a mash up of songs from Magic!’s “Rude” to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”, things get a little uncomfortable around minute 2:43. Davis takes his performance of “Thinking Out Loud” a little too seriously, serenading his passenger to “take me into your loving arms,” while Stevenson cowers in his seat.

Stevenson gets in on the action, singing off-key to Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise (Nelly Remix)” and shaking his shoulders to DJ Snake’s “Turn Down For What.”

Both videos were released by the Dover Police Department as part of its Dash Cam Confessionals series, according to People magazine, and produced by Dover Police spokesman Corporal Mark Hoffman.

The video was, at first, supposed to feature Davis and Stevenson lip-syncing. But “when we watched the raw version, we were laughing,” said Hoffman, and it sparked a new video idea: showing the raw video of the two officers singing off-key and forgetting the words.

The newest video ends with a smirking Davis telling a confused Stevenson to “keep it between us.” “You remember what happened last time,” he reminds Stevenson as he drops him off at the Dover High School.

The now-viral video where he lip-syncs to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” features a uniformed Cpl. Davis showing off his moves while he hits the high notes along with Taylor. The video has over 33.7 million views on several different YouTube channels.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Swift’s “Shake It Off” video is currently pushing a billion views on YouTube.

The videos are the brainchild of the Dover Police Department as part of a community outreach program. “At the end of the day, all that matters is that we engaged with the city of Dover,” Hoffman told Delaware Online.

“The videos have been a helpful way to connect with the community and enlist residents’ eyes and ears to help solve crime.”
