Baltimore Orioles Rumors: Game Closed To Public, Rays Series Moved To Tampa Bay

Baltimore Orioles fans are locked out of the game on Wednesday (April 29). As the Baltimore riots continue, games at Camden Yards continue to be affected. The games on Monday (April 27) and Tuesday (April 28) between the Orioles and Chicago White Sox were both postponed, and the team announced what is going to happen to the game Wednesday as well as a weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays. A report from ESPN laid out some of the details, which might really frustrate Orioles season ticket holders.

The first detail is that Camden Yards will be locked down on Wednesday, with no fans allowed to come watch the game. The Orioles and White Sox will take the field at 2:05 p.m. ET in front of empty stands. The two postponed games have been delayed until May 28, when the teams will play a single-admission doubleheader. That should be an interesting day at the ballpark.

As for the three games that Camden Yards was hosting between the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays from May 1-3, they have been moved to Tropicana Field. Even though the games will now take place in Tampa Bay, the Orioles will serve as the home team. It will be odd for Rays fans that buy tickets to the games, but it seemed like one of the few options that Major League Baseball had at its disposal.

As previously reported on the Inquisitr, a lot of devastation and destruction has taken place during the Baltimore riots. This includes many people, including police officers trying to keep the peace, being injured as a result. Images and videos of the rioting spreading to outside Camden Yards shows that the front office and the City of Baltimore is making the right decision by keeping fans away from the game. Though it could be difficult to play at home in front of empty stands, it will at least keep people home and safe.

The unseen victims from the Baltimore riots are the Camden Yards workers that would have profited from the games against the Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays. Concession workers, ushers, and other hourly workers at the stadium will lose an entire week of pay due to what is taking place in Baltimore. The Baltimore Orioles are also being placed in a difficult position, especially since they have to take the field amidst all this chaos. Watching the April 29 game on television should be an interesting endeavor for viewers, as well.
