Baltimore Protester Demonstrates To Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’ While Helicopters Circle Above

In a peaceful demonstration, a Baltimore protester climbed atop a truck on a city corner and performed an almost-reincarnated Michael Jackson choreography to “Beat It.”

From the street signs, it’s difficult to determine which part of Baltimore this protest took place. However, as can be seen from the protesting video, he is not backing down from the fight. Yet, unlike the rioters and looters, the Baltimore protester’s method is much more peaceful. Nothing is being thrown. No stores are being set aflame. No injuries are occurring.

This Baltimore protester has chosen to go a better way, the way of Michael Jackson. From the spins to the shirt flares, the choreography to the aggression, this man seems to have the reincarnation at full percentage. Perhaps the helicopters unintentionally helped to add wind effects as they circled above the Baltimore protester?

Yet, though by appearance it seemed an entertaining way of protest, the message of the song was possibly his point. In the song, the lyrics talk about authorities abusing their powers, which happens to be the reason for the protest. A man, Freddie Gray, died while suffering officer-inflected injuries while still in their custody. The lyrics state as follows.

“[Verse portion] You have to show them that you’re really not scared. You’re playin’ with your life, this ain’t no truth or dare. They’ll kick you, then they beat you, then they’ll tell you it’s fair. So beat it, but you want to be bad.

[Chorus portion] Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it. No one wants to be defeated. Showin’m how funky and strong is your fight. It doesn’t matter who’s wrong or right.”

While this Baltimore protester is peacefully making his statement known, many are being called rioters because they’ve taken a different approach on the matter. Likewise, various people have taken to Twitter in racially-charged tweets, stating that these protesters are animals. And even some news outlets are portraying from a suggestive slant, and people are catching on to it.
