Scarlett Johansson Hints At Black Widow And Hulk Romance [Video]
With the new Avengers movie on the horizon, there is a lot of buzz surrounding the actors and superheroes who make up the cast of the sure-to-be-hit. A new Avengers: Age of Ultron behind-the-scenes look recently dropped and it’s been getting a lot of attention, but not for the reasons you might expect. Black Widow and the Incredible Hulk may let some sparks fly in the major blockbuster sequel.
According to People, the actress who plays Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson, talked about the connection her character has with Mark Ruffalo’s character in the clip below. She hinted at a possible romance between Black Widow and the Hulk, an intimate relationship that fans never expected. Don’t expect to see Black Widow and Bruce Banner getting hitched anytime soon, but their similar character backgrounds have brought them together in the Avengers universe in an unusual way.
“We all get our opportunities to delve into these characters. They both have pasts that they’re not really able to face,” Johansson said, referring to Black Widow and the Hulk. “They’ve been in the game for a long time and I think they really long for the connection.”
Mark Ruffalo also talks in the clip about the bond the Hulk shares with Black Widow, explaining that the character needs a special touch.
“There’s this sort of taming of Hulk,” he explains, that is required to get close to the character emotionally.
Scarlett Johansson also talked to MTV News about the bond between Black Widow and the Hulk.
“They’re coming together as two people who are reluctant superheroes and are seeing similar things in each other. They’re tethered to this greater cause that’s greater than any kind of potential love. It makes everything very complicated for them.”

Scarlett Johansson’s hints about Black Widow’s love life came at an interesting time, after her co-stars Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner made some sexist comments about Black Widow’s behavior. They were joking that Black Widow was the “slut” of the team, according to Entertainment Weekly. They have since apologized.
“Yesterday we were asked about the rumors that Black Widow wanted to be in a relationship with both Hawkeye and Captain America. We answered in a very juvenile and offensive way that rightfully angered some fans. I regret it and sincerely apologize.”
