Duchess Kate Due Date: Five Days Overdue, Doctors May Induce Labor Or Try Some Unusual Holistic Methods, Say Experts

Duchess Kate Middleton never announced her official due date, but based on the range that she gave (between mid-April to the end of April) in a statement, she and Prince William will be heading off to the hospital soon to deliver their second child. In addition, other reports indicate that she was due on April 23, according to the Telegraph.

The decision to induce labor depends on the Duchess of Cambridge and her physicians. In some cases, doctors wait as long as two weeks before inducing labor. Other pre-labor procedures include scans to check on the unborn baby’s health.

Duchess Kate already has reserved a room at the chic maternity Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital.

“The doctors don’t normally wait for more than a week,” revealed a woman who gave birth in the Lindo Wing. “They will probably already have been in touch with Kate and talked about which day would suit her best to go in and be induced if the baby doesn’t arrive in the next couple of days.”

As the Inquisitr reported, it’s not just Duchess Kate and Prince William who are waiting for the baby to be born. Kate’s family, from her mother Carole Middleton to sister Pippa Middleton, also are eagerly counting down the days until they can become involved.

Just as with Prince George, Prince William wants to use his mother Princess Diana’s methods of parenting and raise his second child in a normal environment rather than only within the walls of the palace and its sterile environs, say those close to the royal family.

And in accordance with natural parenting, some experts advise trying natural, holistic methods to persuade the baby to be born, reported the Daily Mail.

“Eating certain foods is one of the most popular natural methods of bringing on labor,” revealed Elaine Bellamy, a midwifery sister at the private Portland Hospital in London. “I’ve heard of pineapple and ginger being used.”

In 2011, researchers discovered that consuming dried dates resulted in spontaneous labor for more than 95 percent of pregnant women.

Another option is to exercise off those fruit calories by riding a bike or walking, say other specialists.

“Generally, exercise will stimulate the uterus to contract,” revealed Professor Stuart Campbell, obstetrician at the Create Fertility Centre in London. “The uterus is a ‘smooth’ muscle, and you can’t make it contract voluntarily like you can some others — it has to do it by itself.”

And for a solution that involves Prince William, Duchess Kate could try intimate relations, suggest other experts. However, that can be uncomfortable later in pregnancy and does not always work.

“The concentrations of the hormones are very small,” cautioned Professor Campbell.

And to spice up her life before the baby arrives, Princess Kate could consume curry.

“Curry is said to make a woman’s contractions come on — there is something in the powder that the body responds to,” added Elaine, the midwife at the hospital that has catered to celebrities such as Victoria Beckham.
