‘The Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder Marries Girlfriend

Ian Somerhalder, who rose to fame thanks to The Vampire Diaries, has officially married his girlfriend Nikki Reed. The two have been dating for about 10 months and announced their engagement in January this year. The relationship has been one that has fuelled many rumors over Nina Dobrev’s decision to leave the show, despite both cast members stating that is not the case.

E! Online confirmed the two married in Santa Monica on Sunday. Both wore white, with Reed opting for a long-sleeved dress and Somerhalder a smart suit. He announced his upcoming wedding to fans simply by tweeting that it was the “most beautiful morning ever…” By Monday morning, paparazzi photos showed shots captured of the ceremony.

According to sources, the two asked for no gifts from their guests. They wanted people to donate to the animal rescue charity the two have set up together.

Ian and Nikki started rumors that they were together in July of last year. They were regularly spotted together, with one photo being taken of them kissing while at a farmers market in L.A. Soon after, rumors circulated that the Twlight star had moved to Atlanta to be with Somerhalder while he filmed The Vampire Diaries, and it reportedly caused tension for Ian’s ex-girlfriend Dobrev.

The two shared the news of their engagement in January, ignoring the rumors that their relationship was difficult for Nina. When Nina announced she was leaving The Vampire Diaries this month, Ian stopped rumors spreading that he was the reason. The actress had already said that her vision of Elena’s story only lasting six years had been the reason for her leaving.

To help shoot down the rumors, the two shared silly photos of themselves together after Dobrev’s final day. The photos made it very clear that they are still friends, despite being exes. The two broke up after three years of dating, and Nina had briefly dated Dancing With The Stars dancer Derek Hough before Ian moved on with Nikki Reed.

Others on set of The Vampire Diaries offered support for Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed. According to The Daily Mirror, Kat Graham believes the two are “soul mates,” and says she cannot imagine her co-star being with anyone else.

The married couple is yet to confirm their nuptials, but the photos taken by the paparazzi seem good enough for fans. Ian Somerhalder looks officially off the market after marrying his Twilight actress girlfriend.
