Bobby Brown Files For Bobbi Kristina Estate Guardianship After Cissy Houston’s Grim Prognosis: Nick Gordon Impacted?

When Bobby Brown announced at a concert that his 22-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, was awake and watching him after weeks of remaining in a medically induced coma on life support, the crowd cheered wildly. But the congratulations over what seemed to be her improved health quickly changed to confusion as other family members, including her grandmother, Cissy Houston, contradicted him with a grim outlook for her future. Now indications that Brown is accepting reality as portrayed by Cissy have come to light as he files for guardianship over his daughter’s estate, reported Us Weekly.

“Bobbi Kristina’s condition has changed since moving from Emory University Hospital and there has been improvement,” clarified Christopher Brown, who is Bobby’s lawyer.

But after emphasizing the good news, the attorney stated the concern that the rehab process may be lengthy and challenging, and that whether she can fully recover remains unknown.

“Doctors have indicated that she will have a long life. However, Bobbi Kristina is presently embarking on a rehabilitation process and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come.”

But Cissy Houston was even more grim in her description of Bobbi Kristina’s health, as the Inquisitr reported.

“I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma she has a tracheotomy and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive,” said Whitney Houston’s mother.

Cissy expressed her heartbreak over the 22-year-old’s future and also asked for prayers.

“Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me. We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers.”

With regard to Bobby Brown’s decision to file for guardianship, Cissy’s lawyer, David W. Long, released a statement, reported 11 Alive.

“This is a family matter involving sensitive information. We hope to resolve this in a manner that is respectful of Bobbi Kristina’s sensitive health information. The Houston family has always looked out for the best interest of Bobbi Kristina Brown. The family has done so all of her life and will continue to do so. We trust that others have the same objective.”

However, how this may impact Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend, Nick Gordon, who is currently in rehab, remains to be determined. As the Inquisitr reported, Dr. Phil staged a televised intervention to send Gordon to treatment after Nick’s suicidal tweets. Gordon has remained there, and a source said he is now sober.

Gordon, who lived with Bobbi Kristina after growing up in her home as Whitney Houston’s unofficial “adopted son” before he became her boyfriend, admitted that he had been using drugs and alcohol. Although various family members, including Nick’s own birth mother, appeared during and after Dr. Phil’s interview, Gordon made it clear that he depended on Bobbi Kristina.

What’s at stake: Bobbi Kristina’s $20 million inheritance. By filing for guardianship, Bobby can continue to pay for her expensive long-term care facility as well as control other parts of her estate.

As for who will pay for Nick Gordon’s future?

“Nick is responding well to rehab treatment with no relapses,” a source told People of the rehab to which Dr. Phil sent him.

Although Gordon made public pleas on social media to visit Bobbi Kristina, Bobby Brown would not permit it. As a result, Gordon admitted turning to alcohol and drugs to ease his emotional pain. The source emphasized that Gordon should be allowed to be shielded in rehab and possibly go to a halfway house.

“Nick is a special person with many temptations and needs to be in a place where he can continue to heal and grow,” added the insider. “He should stay for a long time – as long as he will allow.”
