Candice Accola Reveals Who She Thinks Caroline Should End Up With On ‘The Vampire Diaries’

Candice Accola has become a fan favorite on The Vampire Diaries as her character, Carline Forbes, has morphed from an innocent cheerleader to a butt kicking vampire. Entertainment Weekly recently caught up with Accola, who discussed her six years spent of the show.

“You might not find this to be all that special, but when you’re locked in various rooms with the same group of people for six years, you realize just how special all of their stories are.”

Accola also credited an amazing production crew for helping make the show a success.

“As an actor, attention can be easy to come by. But stepping onto the set of a television series, you quickly realize who is deserving of the real praise: the crew.”

Accola’s character has had quite a ride this season on The Vampire Diaries, and one interesting part of that story centers on her competing love interests. Lately, fans have been divided on whether Caroline should end up with Stefan (Paul Wesley) or Klaus (Joseph Morgan).

According to Yahoo! Celebrity, the coming episode will explore that relationship dynamic, as Caroline is forced to play along with Stefan’s schemes.

“This week we’re going to see [Caroline] just full-on without her humanity and Stefan, with all of his efforts, is going to try to figure out how to switch it back on,” Candice Accola revealed. “It’s a really interesting dynamic having both of these characters be on opposite sides of the emotional spectrum.”

Speaking of Stefan, Accola also discussed the unique aspects of the pair’s complicated relationship.

“It was a very fun Bonnie and Clyde dynamic between the two of them. But I think wrapping up the series and getting closer to the finale, there are a lot of big shifts coming and I think we needed to bring Stefan back for some of those.”

Accola also touched on the impact that fan reactions had on her and Stefan’s relationship, saying that she has been encouraged by such an opinionated fanbase.

“I personally really liked the storyline of Caroline and Stefan from… Season 2 on,” she added. “I liked that it was a really slow burn. I like that there were layers to this friendship and you know possibility of a relationship as opposed to it just being like forced in front of you like, ‘Look at them.'”
