Bill O’Reilly Wants Political Hit Jobs To Stop: Is Matt Drudge Next?

Bill O’Reilly spent Thursday evening talking about the scandal regarding the Clinton Foundation on his show. O’Reilly talked specifically about emails to General Electric.

“But as we reported last night, when a corporation like General Electric says it will not make public emails sent to it by the State Department during a period of time when GE secured a big contract from the Algerian government while donating generously to the Clinton Foundation, there is something very wrong. GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt must know that there is an appearance of impropriety here, and he has an obligation to the shareholders of GE to avoid any taint of scandal.”

Bill O’Reilly, a man some believe has made a career out of political hit jobs, ended the segment hitting out at political hit jobs and said he was a victim. Bill O’Reilly was obviously referring to the recent accusations of false reporting in the past.

“But I want to make it very clear that the Clintons are to be given the presumption of innocence. As one who has been dishonestly smeared, I loathe political hit jobs. But there are major questions here and they must be answered. No government official should benefit financially while serving the people.”

Several media outlets instantly called Bill O’Reilly out on what they see as another example of hypocrisy. The Washington Post sarcastically praised O’Reilly’s concerns.

“That’s double-decker genius. Level one: O’Reilly, you might suppose, would shrink from reminding people of the quite sturdy allegations against him. But no! This man doesn’t shrink. Level two: He sort of sticks up for the Clintons, cementing his appeal as the truth-teller, the guy who’ll give all sides a fair shake. All in a segment’s work.”

Ever since Hillary Clinton announced her presidential bid, the knives have been sharpening from right wing reporters, especially Bill O’Reilly and Matt Drudge. O’Reilly has been having negative segments on Clinton every night, while The Drudge Report has become primarily a Clinton-bashing site with no mercy.

Some liberal outlets have become somewhat weary of Clinton, though not as much as Bill O’Reilly. Errol Louis of CNN points out that a new book titled Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich could hurt her presidential bid. However, Louis also believes that the negative publicity from the book could force Clinton to go on the road more and hold informal meetings with ordinary Americans — this can help her approval in the end.

The upcoming presidential election could turn out to be one of the most nasty in recent history. Do you think Hillary Clinton will be hurt by Bill O’Reilly and all the others that will continuously try and bring her down? Let us know in the comments section.
