Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen Heading To Nickelodeon And Maybe Netflix, Too?

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are heading over to Nickelodeon. No, the fashion designers aren’t starring a new TV series just yet. Nickelodeon announced on Thursday, April 23, that the network purchased the Olsen twins’ old content library, which includes over a decade of their work.

Mary-Kate and Ashley, 28, will make their big network debut on Monday, April 27, with the premiere of So Little Time, their short-lived family sitcom from the early 2000s, according to Us Weekly. The show stars Mary-Kate and Ashley as Riley and Chloe Carlson. The series will air once a week on Nickelodeon, and will be joined with other shows and movies by the famous fashion designers.

Entertainment Weekly also added that the network also on the Olsen twins’ other library content, including all of their TV series, seven movies, and two music videos that star the sisters.

“First up, their 2001 series So Little Time will debut on Nickelodeon on Monday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m., with episodes airing every weekday. From there, other series will start to roll out, including The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley, You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s and Mary-Kate and Ashley in Action!

As for TV movies, Nickelodeon has acquired MaryKate & Ashley’s Fashion Forward, Our Lips Are Sealed, Winning London, Holiday in the Sun, When in Rome, Getting There: Sweet 16 and Licensed to Drive and The Challenge. (Sorry, Billboard Dad fans.)”

And finally, the music specials include Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen: Our Music Video and Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen: Our First Video.

Ashley Olsen announced the exciting news to Variety. The actress even released a special statement.

“Mary-Kate and I are excited to announce our video library will be available to the Nickelodeon community.”

Mary-Kate said in a statement as to why Nickelodeon is the perfect place for their library content.

“Nickelodeon has been at the forefront of kids entertainment for decades. We believe this is the perfect home for our library.”

The network agrees as well. Keith Dawkins, senior VP and general manager, said that he hopes Mary-Kate and Ashley’s timeless entertainment will draw in old fans and create some new fans as well.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring the Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen’s video library to Nickelodeon. The timeless content and style, relatable sibling dynamics and overall appeal of Mary-Kate and Ashley make this a great addition to Nick’s platforms.”

It doesn’t look like the Olsen twins have completely shunned their past, which made them the billionaires they are today. This comes after the news that they said they had no knowledge of the Fuller House spin-off. The Olsen twins only heard about it when John Stamos made the announcement on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night. The new Netflix series won’t air until 2016, but it has fans wondering if the sisters will make an appearance. It sounds like the Olsen twins are considering it!

Mary-Kate told WWD: “I’m shocked I haven’t heard from John.”

Ashley added the following.

“I ran into Bob [Saget] the other day and we didn’t even talk about. I’m going to call [Saget] and get his perspective.”

Some find it strange that none of the Full House cast mentioned the spinoff to the Olsen twins. Maybe the cast thought the girls were too good to join the spin-off. Celebrity Dirty Laundry hinted that there could be miscommunication or backstage drama that the fans aren’t aware of. What are your thoughts on Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s old video content heading to Nickelodeon?
