Knicks’ J.R. Smith Fined $25,000 For Lewd Twitter Photo


J.R. Smith of the New York Knicks has been fined $25,000 by the for posting lewd photos on his Twitter account.

ESPN reports that the 26-year-old New Jersey native posted a photo of a semi-nude woman on his Twitter page late on Thursday night.

Smith posted a picture of a semi-nude woman on his account late Thursday night. Sporting Nation reports that the woman in the now-deleted photo was Tahiry Jose, a magazine model who dated rapper Joe Budden for several years. Smith tweeted a photo of Tahiry lying on a bed in her thong and wrote: “I can’t watch the game like this… Damn you @therealtahiry.”

Smith told reporters in Milwaukee after a Knicks loss that he regretted the tweet. Smith said:

“I didn’t know it was going to be as big a deal as it is now. I definitely regret it. Anytime I do anything that takes away from our team, I’m definitely going to regret it…. “A few people talked to me about it. It’s not the smartest move. I understand that now. I just have to be smarter in my decisions.”

The photo was deleted from Smith’s Twitter account but it can still be seen on various sites on the internet. (If you really want to see the photo, click here. NSFW.)

Smith signed with the Knicks in February of this year after playing in China during the lockout. He’s averaged 8.9 points in his first nine games for the Knicks.
