Mendeecees Harris And Yandy Smith: ‘Love & Hip Hop’ Future Hubby Must Do Prison Time, Fined $5 Million Dollars

Mendeecees Harris, the Love and Hip Hop hubby-to-be of Yandy Smith, has pleaded guilty to drug trafficking in New York. TMZ is reporting now that the reality-show husband agreed to a plea deal, which led him to admit in court that he had been involved in drug trafficking in the New York area. According to the details of the plea deal, he must pay back $5 million in fines. He could also spend up to 40 years in prison, with 5 years being the minimum.

This major setback comes just before 36-year-old Mendeecees Harris is due to say “I do” to his future wife, Yandy Smith Harris. Yandy recently changed her last name to Harris as a symbol of her love and dedication to Mendeecees before the actual nuptials take place.

For now he is free on bail. Formal sentencing will take place in a New York court in August. This has to be devastating news for Yandy Smith, who often displays strong affection for Mendeecees on her Instagram and Facebook pages. This latest news is reminiscent of the case of Real Housewives of Atlanta husband Apollo Nida, who recently left his wife Phaedra Parks and his children to serve time in prison for a serious offense.

At least if Mendeecees Harris is housed in a New York Correctional facility, his wife, Yandy Smith Harris, and the children will be able to visit him and spend time with him on conjugal visits. This will definitely help keep the marriage intact and foster good communication until his release, unlike in the case of Nida and some others who have been convicted.

The Inquisitr reported earlier that Mendeecees Harris was released on $600,000 bond in 2014, in connection with his arrest related to the drug trafficking charges last year. In the sting, federal investigators confiscate millions of dollars in cash and expensive jewelry. Yandy Smith released the following statement regarding his arrest.

“We have been anticipating him getting bail for a while. As you know from the show, every time I got excited, circumstances came up and threw a wrench in the plan. So this time, I did not get excited until I heard the judge say all the terms were excepted and bail was granted. I’m SURE it’s going to be like Christmas at our house.”

VH1 announced that Yandy and Mendeecees will wed on the VH1 network during the Memorial Day Weekend. Their wedding will mark the first time anyone has married on the network live, according to Madamenoire.
