‘RHOBH’ Season 5 Footage Did Not Cause Kim Richards’ Relapse, Claims Source [Sobriety Update]

The RHOBH Season 5 reunion was not what led Kim Richards to drink. Despite reports claiming Richards watched a marathon of the RHOBH Season 5 reunion, parts one through three, with her daughter just hours before she was arrested at the Beverly Hills Hotel, a source now claims RHOBH Season 5 did not lead to the reality star’s arrest.

According to an April 18 report by Us Weekly, Richards’ alleged relapse was not prompted by RHOBH Season 5.

“[RHOBH season five] didn’t trigger her addiction — and her recovery also needs to happen outside of it.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, the RHOBH Season 5 star was “very drunk” in the moments leading up to her arrest for public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer, and battery on an officer.

According to a People Magazine report last week, Richards became “aggressive, loud and insulting to other guests,” after reportedly drinking until the bartender at the Polo Lounge cut her off.

“It was clear that she was very drunk.”

The Beverly Hills Hotel’s policy requires staff to stop serving alcoholic drinks to guests who become acting inebriated, but when the bartender on staff on Thursday suggested the RHOBH Season 5 star begin drinking non-alcoholic drinks, Richards got “very mad” and insisted on having more vodka. When the bartender refused, she “flipped out.”

At that point, things took a dramatic turn for the worse. While staff attempted to escort Richards out of the bar without making a scene, Richards’ behavior escalated, leaving staff with no other option than to call the Beverly Hills Police Department for backup.

“[Richards] was having none of it. She caused a huge scene and was so out of control.”

Aournd 1:30 a.m., police responded to “reports of a possible fight” and at 2:04 a.m, following a restroom standoff with the RHOBH Season 5 star, Richards was taken into custody where she reportedly kicked a police officer, leading to a battery charge against her.

Richards “was displaying symptoms of alcohol intoxication including slurred speech and belligerent insolent behavior cursing at the officers and passively resisted arrest,” read a statement by the Beverly Hills Police Department at the end of last week.

After spending several hours behind bars, the RHOBH Season 5 star was released from custody at 10:36 a.m. on Thursday morning. A short while later, Richards was photographed outside of her home.

RHOBH Season 5 concludes tonight at 8 p.m. on Bravo, with the series’ unseen moments episode.
