North Carolina: Unborn Baby Survives After Mother, Kimberly Dianne Richardson, Was Shot Dead By Boyfriend

A North Carolina pregnant woman was shot dead by her boyfriend late Saturday night, but her unborn baby girl survived the horrific incident, according to Daily Mail.

Dispatchers at 911 received a call from 25-year-old Kimberly Dianne Richardson of Youngsville, North Carolina, Saturday night at approximately 9:40 p.m. who appeared to have trouble breathing, and was unable to speak no more than a few words at a time, according to the 911 call that was released by the Raleigh Police Department.

“I’ve been shot” Richardson said over the phone before going silent for 31 seconds.

Afterward she stated that she was located behind Party City in Triangle Town City Mall on 3600 block of Sumner Boulevard.

The conversation ended after Richardson responded with “I can’t…I can’t talk” after being ask for her phone number.

The dispatcher tried to get her back on the line, but was unsuccessful. The next thing that was heard over the phone were police sirens.

Richardson was a jewelry consultant at Zales, which is located in the same shopping mall so she could have recently gotten off from work and was walking to her car before being gunned down, but information regarding the matter has not been released.

Once police arrived at the scene, they discovered that not only was Richardson – who was laying on the ground — shot but that she was six-months pregnant.

Paramedics immediately transferred Richardson to WakeMed where doctors performed an emergency surgery on her as an attempt to save her life as well as the unborn child’s life.

However, Richardson died as a result of her injuries early Sunday morning, but it was reported that her baby girl is “alive and well.”

Police suspected Richardson’s boyfriend, Daniel Joseph Steele, 25, of the deadly shooting when they discovered that she said “He shot me” during the 911 call. He was arrested at his home on Snowcrest Drive after his girlfriend was pronounced dead.

Steele’s neighbor, Carol Lee, spoke with reporters and said the incident was “terrible” when she first learned about the alleged shooting. Watching from her home, she said “I saw about three cop cars outside the house and I saw a couple of cops standing in front of it.”

Steel was charged with the murder of his pregnant girlfriend, Kimberly Dianne Richard, and will be held at the county jail without bond until his arraignment.

Further information surrounding Richard’s baby who survived the deadly shooting will remain confidential due to her family’s request.
