Bobbi Kristina Brown ‘Awake,’ Says Bobby Brown As Nick Gordon Remains In Rehab – Update

Bobbi Kristina Brown once was known as the hopeful budding singer-daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. But on January 31, 2015, that hope changed to horror as the world learned that she had been found unconscious, face down in a bathtub in the home she shared with boyfriend Nick Gordon. It was an eerie parallel of her mother’s tragic death. Now, after weeks in which family members, including Cissy Houston, Pat Houston, and Bobby, have huddled by her bedside, praying for her, Bobbi Kristina is awake, according to the New York Daily News.

Kept in a medically induced coma to try to allow her brain to heal from the lack of oxygen, Bobbi Kristina recently was transferred from the hospital ICU to a long-term care facility. But now Brown says that she has awakened.

“Bobbi is awake,” announced the singer. “She’s watching me.”

But precisely what those statements mean remain unclear.

Previously, without any signs of recovery, Cissy and Pat were urging Bobby to turn off Bobbi Kristina’s machines that are keeping her alive, reported the VC Post.

What’s at stake: Bobbi Kristina’s $20 million inheritance. Because she and Nick were not formally married, that fortune would be divided among her relatives.

Moreover, Bobby has to head to Australia for a previously planned tour, and because he only can legally make medical decisions for Bobbi Kristina, that separation could be problematic if a health crisis occurs when he is out of the country, reported Christian Today.

Although Brown was able to cancel some of his concert dates, promoters are insisting that he fulfill those obligations.

As the Inquisitr reported, Bobby Brown broke his silence when he left his daughter’s bedside recently for a previously agreed-upon appearance at the Los Angeles Soul Festival, joined by his pregnant wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown.

“I dunno what the hell I am going through right now, but I am giving it to God and letting him deal with it,” said Brown.

In addition to providing the crowd with music, the 46-year-old singer touted his line of barbecue products.

“I ain’t done with it yet. I got marinades and all kind of s*** coming out,” declared Bobby, quickly adding an apology for his word choice to his wife. “Excuse my French, baby girl. I didn’t mean to curse in front of you. And ladies too.”

Soon after, Brown returned to be with his daughter. But while Bobby and his relatives continue to debate whether to keep Bobbi Kristina on life support, her beau, Nick Gordon, is in a very different situation, reported People.

Gordon headed to rehab after Dr. Phil staged an intervention, aired on his show amid controversy as Nick admitted he was high.

“Nick is responding well to rehab treatment with no relapses,” said a source.

Although Gordon made public pleas on social media to visit Bobbi Kristina, Bobby Brown would not permit it. As a result, Gordon admitted turning to alcohol and drugs to ease his emotional pain. The source emphasized that Gordon should be allowed to be shielded in rehab.

“Nick is a special person with many temptations and needs to be in a place where he can continue to heal and grow,” added the insider. “He should stay for a long time – as long as he will allow.”

After the 25-year-old leaves rehab, that source is encouraging him to head to a halfway house away from the media spotlight.

However, while he is in rehab, the police are continuing their investigation as to what happened that resulted in Bobbi Kristina’s health crisis. As the Inquisitr reported, Bobbi Kristina abused drugs and alcohol with her boyfriend, using drugs on that fateful morning.

Leolah Brown has accused Nick of “attempted murder” on her Facebook page. In an open letter to Dr. Phil, she pleaded with him to not help Gordon.

“Nick Gordon is under investigation for the attempted murder of my niece Bobby Kristina Brown. We have strong evidence of foul play. Until this investigation is completed by law enforcement, I would ask that you or anyone else not provide this individual a platform to spin this situation to his benefit.”

However, although most members of the Brown and Houston family have slammed Nick Gordon, her cousin, Jerod Brown, has defended him, as the Inquisitr reported.

“Nick has cooperated with the police department, he has cooperated with my uncle Bobby’s request. He has given my family members as much information as he can,” said Jerod.

In addition, Bobbi Kristina’s cousin accused Dr. Phil of exploiting Gordon.

“He has been exploited on national television with hidden cameras that he had no idea about. He has given Kristina CPR which is one of the reasons why she is not dead till this day. He has been ridiculed and accused without any concrete evidence, yet he still hasn’t gotten the chance to visit his girl. If everyone truly believes that Nick is the blame for this situation wouldn’t you think he would already be locked up by now.”
