Grinning And Laughing Son Accused Of Murdering His Father

A grinning man was arrested and carted off to jail for murdering his father a few days after Christmas. Geoffrey Bulman, the son of 71-year-old George Bulman, is accused of murdering his father shortly after Christmas in their home in Stratford Grove West, Heaton, Newcastle.

According to a report by Newcastle Chronicle, George Bulman died at Royal Victoria Hospital after being transported to the infirmary by ambulance.

Police allege 45-year-old Geoffrey Bulman murdered his elderly father, in addition to causing grievous bodily harm, in connection with an attack on one of his neighbors on December 29 of last year. Police arrested Bulman and later charged him with murder.

While police transported handcuffed Bulman to attend a hearing and face charges for murdering his dad, Geoffrey was photographed wearing a grey sweatshirt, grinning from ear-to-ear.

On a video link to prison, the grinning man pleaded not guilty. When Bulman was brought before North Tyneside Magistrates, he only confirmed his address and name at the brief hearing.

Defense attorney Richard Haswell did not apply for bail, so Bulman will remain in custody until his next hearing date.

Newcastle Crown Court Judge Paul Sloan QC told the grinning man, “I’m going to adjourn your case now for a trial which is listed in July this year. That is the next date you will attend court and in the meantime you will be remanded in custody.”

According to the Mirror’s account of this story, neighbors living on the quiet street of George Bulman say he was a “very friendly” man.

One neighbor commented on his interaction with the senior Bulman.

“I just know him to say hello to. He seemed like a nice chap. I live on the other side of the road and I used to see him in the morning as he used to go to the corner shop every day. He was very cheery and would always say hello.”

A staff member from Sid’s Corner Shop added, “I have met the gentleman a few times. He probably came in most days in the morning to buy a paper. He would always say ‘hello’ and ‘how are you?’ He was a friendly fella.”

The Mirror also reported that a 69-year-old woman was also arrested in connection with the murder of George Bulman and later released on bail.

According to a Newcastle Chronicle report, grinning and laughing Geoffrey Bulman allegedly murdered his father between Saturday and Monday, a few days after Christmas last year.
