Babysitter sees Amber Alert, calls 911

Babysitter Sees Amber Alert Over Breakfast, Shocked To Realize The Missing Kid’s In His House

This isn’t something you expect to happen over breakfast: An Amber Alert flashes across your computer and you realize the kid is familiar. In fact, the kid is in your house, perfectly safe and sound. In Washington Thursday, this very thing happened to a very surprised babysitter.

That babysitter is John Truong, and now his sister is facing charges of kidnapping, assault, and unlawful imprisonment in connection with the brutal attack of a Utah woman and nabbing of her 2-year-old son, KOMO reported.

“All of a sudden I see this Amber Alert for this child. And it looks like this child in my bed, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God! What’s going on?'” Tuong told the station. “It’s probably the craziest thing I’ve ever heard. It’s like something out of a movie.”

Alyssa M. Chang, along with this the child’s grandmother, allegedly attacked the Des Moines woman with a Taser on Tuesday, tied her in a garage, and took the kid; she escaped and went for help. Before they were aware of the Amber Alert, Chang saddled her brother with the role of babysitter, Fox News added. She said the child was her boyfriend’s son; Tuong had never seen him before.

The Amber Alert was issued Tuesday night.

Apparently, Chang needed a babysitter because she and her boyfriend were getting together for a date that would last the whole night and told Tuong she’d be back to pick him up.

She never returned, leaving her brother as a long-term babysitter and setting him up for quite a surprise when the Amber Alert hit on Facebook the next morning. The child apparently handled the ordeal quite well, his shocked babysitter told KOMO. Tuong called 911 and the police arrived to find him happy.

“He was a great kid. He didn’t cry much or anything. He enjoyed my dog’s company and my children’s company. Everything seemed great and then all of a sudden I’m eating breakfast and it turns out to be this.”

Chang is being held on $250,000 bail while the police investigate the incident. Meanwhile, her brother the babysitter blames the ordeal on the boyfriend.

“I feel like she was just helping her boyfriend out and just got into this horrible situation. We’re family people, this is definitely not like this. Honestly I’m at a loss for words right now.”
