Super Tuesday: Gingrich Wins Georgia, Stays In Race [Video]

Newt Gingrich does not have to worry about pulling off a photo finish in his home state of Georgia. The Former House Speaker crushed his competition in the State he represented in congress for more than 20 years. This cements his southern strategy and keeps him going against front runner Mitt Romney.

4 out of 5 voters told exit polls that rising gas prices were a big part of their decision to vote for Gingrich. Gingrich says he will lower gas prices by “aggressively drilling across America”

Romney dismissed his claims as “pandering”

Speaking to supporters in Atlanta on Tuesday night, Mr. Gingrich took a jab at Romney by saying,

“Wall Street money can be beaten by Main Street work,”

Next week Alabama, Mississippi and Kansas head to the polls. Gingrich hopes to dominate in those southern states.

He said,

“We’d like to try to win all three of those. and if we do, we’re in a different world.”

John G. Geer, a political scientist at Vanderbilt University, said,

“some die-hard conservatives would switch to Gingrich. but that most would rally behind Mr. Romney as the likely nominee. It’s probably going to be a very good night for the former governor from Massachusetts,”

But even if Mr. Gingrich went on to win the states in play next week, his path to the nomination remains improbable.

“He’s got to win something outside the South. Where’s he going to go? Where’s he going to show strength?”

Does Newt Gingrich stay competitive or does he drop out before the convention?
