Bobbi Kristina Brown has remained dependent on life support since January 31, when she was discovered unconscious in the home she shared with boyfriend Nick Gordon. Although her father Bobby Brown is responsible for her medical decisions, the fate of the 22-year-old daughter of Whitney Houston has turned into a family feud, according to Radar Online.
Initially in a hospital ICU, where she was kept in a medically induced coma to try to heal the brain damage that occurred from lack of oxygen, Bobbi Kristina has since been transferred to a long-term care facility. But with no change in her condition and a grim prognosis, a source revealed that the Houston family is arguing with Bobby about his desire to keep his daughter on life support.
“Nothing has improved for Krissy,” said that family insider.
“She is still unresponsive and unfortunately hasn’t made any progress in the new place. This is heartbreaking for everyone who loves her so much, but Cissy and the rest of the Houston family feel like God should be making the final decision about her future.”
Cissy Houston is Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother, who at 81 recently spoke out about how she feels regarding the future of the unconscious woman. She revealed her acceptance that her daughter may die, while Bobby continues to hold out hope for a medical miracle, added the source.
“Of course Bobby wants Krissy to wake up and return to her life. That’s all he wants. But there doesn’t seem to be a lot of hope and the Houston family is resigned to the fact that keeping Krissy on life support may not be the best option. They believe God should be in control and they don’t think what Bobby is doing is the best thing for her.”
Also at stake is whether Bobby will remain available to make any emergency medical decisions for his daughter.
“The Houston family knows this is a heartbreaking decision for Bobby, and the worst thing he will ever have to do, but they have faith in God that he will do the right thing for Bobbi,” said the insider.
But Brown must head to Australia next month to complete contract obligations for a tour there, according to Christian Today.
Thus far, he has remained close to her side for weeks, finding some hope when physicians attempted to discover Bobbi Kristina’s prognosis by removing her from the medically induced coma. However, when violent seizures resulted, they were forced to return her to that state.
However, that experiment did indicate that she is not brain dead, giving Bobby reason to hope. The one exception in the family reportedly is Pat Houston, who feels that Bobby should remove Bobbi Kristina from life support before he leaves for Australia.
The family also is aware that the 22-year-old’s $20 million inheritance would be divided among certain relatives if she passes.
As the Inquisitr reported, Bobby Brown broke his silence during a Los Angeles appearance at the Soul Food Festival.
“I dunno what the hell I am going through right now, but I am giving it to God and letting him deal with it,” declared Bobby.
Joined by his pregnant wife Alicia Etheredge-Brown, the singer visibly was close to tears as the crowd cheered their support.
He also showed a sense of humor, as he turned the subject to his expansion into barbecue sauce products. With Alicia by his side at the booth, he promoted her home-cooked chicken and sausage turned into gourmet fare with the line of Bobby Brown products.
“I ain’t done with it yet. I got marinades and all kind of s*** coming out,” boasted Brown before quickly apologizing for swearing. “Excuse my French, baby girl. I didn’t mean to curse in front of you. And ladies too.”
However, Dr. Drew asked the question about what Bobby means when he announced he is giving his daughter’s fate to God.
If he leaves Bobbi Kristina on life support, questioned Dr. Drew, is he leaving her fate in God’s hands or in the hands of medical science?
“Does this mean he is avoiding making difficult decisions concerning his daughter?” asked Dr. Drew.
