Bruce Jenner’s promo video for the upcoming interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC’s 20/20 has Belinda Jenner explaining how everything has led up to this journey. But what does the family say about the transition from Bruce to Belinda?
In a related report by the Inquisitr, Brody Jenner has a new reality TV show in the works, and it’s apparently based upon his beliefs as a “sex expert.” Bruce Jenner’s sex change surgery has already been scheduled.
When Kim Kardashian was asked Bruce’s plans in January, she explained that it’s “his journey to talk about.”
“He’s our dad so we support him no matter what, and I think when the time is right, he’ll talk about whatever he wants to talk about,” she said. “I guess I’ll kind of let everyone be curious and I feel like that’s his journey to talk about.”
During Bruce Jenner’s promo video, the former Olympian explains to Diane Sawyer that “my whole life has been getting me ready for this.” But some say the timing of the transgender announcement is suspicious, since it just happens to come right before Keeping Up With Kardashians Season 10. A transgender reporter with CNN even accused Jenner of capitalizing on the transition and some fear it will be Jenner’s “freak show”.
But according to a source with People, Jenner believes the interview with Sawyer will help transgender people.
“Bruce’s primary goal is to bring awareness to this issue in order to help others in the transgender community,” the source told People. “[Jenner] wants this to be taken seriously so that his situation can have the most positive impact on society’s perception of the transgender community.”
So what is all this talk about Belinda Jenner? Unfortunately, Bruce Jenner’s promo did not reveal the final name that was chosen, but it’s rumored that Belinda is the final name revealed to Diane Sawyer. At one point, Bruce was actually considering Bruscilla, but since it sounded like a disease and didn’t “roll off the tongue,” it’s apparently been axed. Agnes would be a tribute to Hungarian-Israeli gymnast Ágnes Keleti, who won 10 Olympic medals, so it’s possible that’s still in the running. There’s also other names like Brigette, Bridget, Chastity, and Zoey that were supposedly under consideration. In any case, we’ll find out for certain very soon.
Bruce Jenner’s promo video is only a tiny snippet of the two-hour special, which will air on Friday, April 24, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC’s 20/20. What did you think about it? Do you think Belinda Jenner will help or hinder transgender people?
