Nancy Pelosi Slams Campaign Spending While Stumping For Jesse Jackson

It was a busy day for Former Speaker of the House Representative Nancy Pelosi. She was in Chicago today campaigning for Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. in his race against former U.S. Rep. Debbie Halvorson. During her speech on the stump for Jackson she slammed the unlimited spending being done by the Super PAC’s and supported President Obama in his recent contraception battle.

Pelosi is still the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives. She used her pulpit to talk about the landmark 2010 “Citizen’s United” case where the Supreme Court found that it was unconstitutional to limit expenditures by corporations and unions on political campaigns.

She told a Women in Government forum at Northwestern University,

“Let the people decide an election, not the bankroll of a few people. [As a start, tougher rules are needed to] shine the bright light of disclosure on some of the big money coming into campaigns,”

Pelosi is calling for legislation requiring all PAC’s to disclose a list of their top donors names. She is also calling for amending the Constitution to overturn “Citizen’s United”

“The public is ready for it. This has just gone too far. I think we can all agree that isn’t the path we want to go down,”

Pelosi then turned her attention to President Obama’s recent directive requiring all insurance plans to offer contraceptives to women regardless of whether they work for a religious institution or not.

Pelosi said,

“You don’t need the boss to determine what insurance you’re going to get,”

Speaking about Representative Jackson she said,

“I’m really very, very proud of his leadership and his service in the Congress,”

She avoided mentioning that Representative Jackson is under investigation for his links to imprisoned former governor Rod Blagojevich for his role is an attempt to sell President Obama’s vacant Senate seat.

Do you think Nancy Pelosi is a strong advocate for the people or a liberal nutcase?
