The Second ‘Ant-Man’ Trailer Is Here, In All Its Human-Sized Glory!

The new Ant-Man trailer is here, and once more, you don’t need a magnifying glass and a 4K monitor to see it. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) passes the proverbial torch to Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) in order to stop a madman from using the power of his formula to become a miniature menace.

In the original Marvel comics, as you may know already, Pym was the first Ant-Man, a superhero who was able to use a secret formula to make himself shrink while gaining greater strength. He was also originally the one who created Ultron, but due to the new story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s now Iron Man who is responsible for that.

Ultimately, Pym’s character was one of the least remarkable Avengers on the team in the midst of a super-soldier (Captain America), a massive green rage monster (Hulk), and the Norse god of lightning (Thor). This new film seeks to change all of that.

In the latest Ant-Man trailer, Scott Lang is a professional thief who is looking for redemption after apparently earning himself a criminal record. After announcing he’ll never do that again, Hank Pym is giving him the means for redemption with a degree of comic irony.

“I want you to break into a place and steal some stuff.”

As part of his training, Lang enlists the help of Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) to show him how to punch, as well as instruct him on how useful ants can be as allies. With his superhuman strength even in such a small form, the punching comes in handy, if you’ll pardon the pun.

The villain Jellowjacket (Corey Stoll) is the madman that Hank Pym has entrusted Lang to take on, a man who has been using the technology for worse things than stealing.

The second Ant-Man trailer is an action-packed thrill ride, promising that the film will be the same. The Ant-Man release date is July 17, and we can expect some big laughs from this miniature face-off.
