George Clooney, Brad Pitt Team Up for Prop 8 Play [Live Stream]

Our own Dan Evon wrote Thursday that Pitt will take the role as Vaughn R. Walker, United States District Chief Judge. Vaughn is the judge who overturned California’s gay marriage ban after ruling the ban was unconstitutional.

Clooney will play the plaintiff’s lead co-council along with actor, Martin Sheen. They will portray David Bois and Theodore B. Olson, a liberal and a conservative pair of lawyers working on behalf of marriage equality.

“8” is directed by Rob Reiner (A Few Good Men, When Harry Met Sally) and being performed at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles.

The play had its much-heralded Broadway world premiere on September 19, 2011, at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre in New York City.

To watch a live stream of tonight’s performance you can visit the American Foundation For Equal Rights’ website here or head over to the organization’s YouTube channel where a stream will also be available.

According to AFER’s website, the play will begin at 7:30pm PST/ 10:30pm EST.

Proceeds from the benefit event will go toward the cause of marriage equality in the US.
