New Video Game Releases For The Week Of April 12, 2015

This week of new video game releases is not for the faint of heart. The week of April 12, 2105, will undoubtedly be the most violent and gore-filled of the year so far as Mortal Kombat X arrives on shelves this week from developer NetherRealm. Gamers who have conquered Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, from last week’s new video game releases that the Inquisitr features each week, will find their carnage quota filled by this week’s releases.

Mortal Kombat X is the tentpole release for the new video games this week as the tenth main installment in the Moral Kombat franchise. The game will see release first on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows platforms, with High Voltage Software handling a port to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 later in the year. The fighting game continues the tradition of head-to-head fighting with combos involving special moves and the franchise’s most controversial aspect, fatalities. These finishing moves to the fighter’s opponent are usually considerably violent with the new installment showcasing fatalities that involve the removal of the spinal cord through a gaping hole in the chest. Gamespot did a breakdown of the revealed Fatality and Brutality videos. These are extremely violent and disturbing animations so be warned before you view them yourself. Mortal Kombat X releases on April 15, 2015, for Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

PlayStation owners are receiving the entire Grand Theft Auto Trilogy as a digital download from the PlayStation Store. The trilogy contains Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Titan Souls rounds out the release calendar with Devolver Digital’s highly anticipated 2D, top-down action adventure title for the PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Windows, and Mac platforms. The goal of the game is similar to another PlayStation classic, Shadows of theColossus where the player must defeat a series of giant monsters in order to advance. There are 20 giant Titans for the player to contend with who need only one hit to be defeated, however figuring out where that one hit is to be placed is the crux of the encounters much like Colossus.Titan Souls will release on April 14.
