Breitbart Dies And The Hate Flies

Andrew Breitbart died Thursday at the very young age of 43. Although many of us knew about his health problems, it still came as a shock. To his friends and supporters, it was like a punch in the stomach, out of the blue. To his family, the pain and loss is simply unimaginable. Sadly, to his detractors, who were many, it has become an an excuse for an out pouring of hatred that frankly borders on filth.

Leading the way, was well known liberal blogger Matt Yglesias, from Slate, who said, “Conventions around dead people are ridiculous. The world outlook is slightly improved with @AndrewBrietbart dead.” The comments and twitters ranged from celebrating Brietbart’s death outright to vicious gloating wishing Breitbart hell and damnation.

At the risk of giving some of these parasites their 15 minutes of fame, here is a sample of the hateful comments posted about Breitbart.

AlmightyBob ? @AlmightyBoob : @AndrewBreitbart haha youre dead and in hell being a gay with hitler

Jeff Glasse ? @jeffglasse : Andrew Breitbart now enjoying afternoon tea with Hitler #goodriddanceyouhack

@darrenfiorello: Andrew Breitbart died? Is it wrong that I’m happier about that than when they got bin Laden and Saddam?

Scott On Da Rox @ridinchillwaves : RT GOOD RIDDANCE..fascist prick @Gawker: Andrew Breitbart Dead? gawker.com/5889586/

Josh M ? @TheSocialest : Good riddance Breitbart. Hopefully they put James O’Keefe in your casket.

John Kapp ? @johnkapp : Andrew Breitbart was a racist, sexist, homophobe. Good riddance.

Gabriel ? @gabriel0923 : Andrew #Breitbart has died having been finally consumed by his revolting hatred! The world is better off without him!

Dufus ? @dufus : Did we cry when Hitler died? No.. #Breitbart see you in hell asshole

Needless to say, some of those on the Right have used this as an excuse to voice their loathing of all things Liberal. But we should ask ourselves one simple question. Is it really honest and proper to pour out hatred and personal politics when a man dies at a young age and leaves behind a devoted wife and four children?

America is in trouble. The divide is wide and getting wider every day. If there was ever a time to put aside our differences and try to find a common ground, IT IS NOW. Of course, we should all fight for what we believe in and express our opinions but there is no place for gloating over the death of any man or woman. When someone dies, we are all diminished. Perhaps Mr. Yglesias could have remembered that and not polluted the Internet with his hate today.
