61-Year-Old Woman Enters Vibrant ‘Silver’ Adult Film Industry In Japan
While most people usually associate the porn industry with young, sexy women (anywhere from college age through to about 35), in Japan, the “silver porn” industry is thriving. The latest addition, 61-year-old Yasue Tomita, is proof positive.
Tomita admitted to reporters that she was “a bit rusty” and explained how excited she was to participate in her first porn movie
“I like my handicrafts but I wanted to try my hand at this, while my body still works,” she said.
At the age of 61, Tomita wants to do something different with her life, so she figured why not have some great sex and get paid for it before it’s too late.
She added, “I do like sex, and this is my last chance before I get too old. I’m very nervous. I wonder if I should really do it, especially in front of so many people, but everyone should follow their dream. I just hope I can keep up.”
While the porn industry rakes in a handsome $20 billion a year, roughly 20 to 30 percent of that is made up of “silver porn” porn stars who are over 60-years-old.
The whole “silver” movement started in Japan thanks to now-80-year-old Shigeo Tokuda, who has featured in such porn movies as Forbidden Elderly Care and Manic Training of Lolitas.
It’s no surprise since Japanese attitudes to porn are less prudish than many other parts of the world. The Japanese openly celebrate sexuality with annual fertility festivals, which take place in many parts of Japan.
Film director Fimiaki Kimura told reporters, “Everyone has different sexual tastes or fetishes. Elderly porn has become very popular over the past 10 years or so. Older couples watch together because they can feel a connection, a sense of closeness or familiarity, being the same age. It’s like a forbidden pleasure.”
Kimura added, “Young people watch it because they’re fed up with the regular stuff – whatever turns you on. You do hear about actors taking Viagra, but that can be dangerous for the older guys.”
