Fans of the Parrot AR Drone series are in luck as the company on Thursday began taking pre-orders for its much anticipated Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Quadricopter.
The quadricopter will be released in May for $299.99 and comes equipped with plenty of new features including a built-in 720p front-facing camera that captures flights in HD.
For better flying capabilities the AR Drone 2.0 also features a 3-axis accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer.
The drone also offers a new “absolute flight” feature mode that allows users to steer the AR Drone by simply tilting their smartphone or tablet.
In another first “light-emitting diodes (green in front, red in rear), positioned on the landing gear, help the pilot track the orientation of the AR.Drone 2.0 for easier flying.”
The devices iOS and Android apps also allow users to share flight date with friends.
If simply using the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 isn’t enough for some users Parrot has also provided Android and iOS developer software development kits which allow for custom program creation.
The company only plans to offer a limited number of units which can be reserved now or picked up on April 9th from Brookstone stores.
