Sonia Sotomayor Meets George & Amal Clooney For Dinner

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, appointed by President Obama, recently met George Clooney and his wife, Amal, for dinner in New York City, Vanity Fair reported. Amal Clooney had previously worked for Sotomayor when she was a federal judge on the Second Circuit court. The three met for dinner at Harry Cipriani on Fifth Avenue this past Wednesday.

“There are some real perks to being a Supreme Court justice. You can’t get fired, you don’t have to wear pants at work. It’s a good job. But also, for one lucky justice, you get to have dinner with George Clooney. Yes, Justice Sonia Sotomayor met up with George and his wife,Amal Clooney, at Harry Cipriani on Fifth Avenue on Wednesday night for an intimate meal,” Vanity Fair reported.

Page Six reported the Clooneys dined with Sonia Sotomayor at a corner table after the Clooneys arrived early and sat the bar waiting for the Supreme Court Justice to arrive.

“And here’s what I really like about this story: Page Six says Sotomayor kept ’em waiting. Apparently the Clooneys ‘arrived early and waited at the bar for Sotomayor before the trio were discreetly seated at a corner table.’ But we all know there’s probably a little fib in there,” Vanity Fair reported about the meeting.

The outlet continued, “The Clooneys have no reason to arrive early to anything, ever. I bet you Sotomayor was late. I think she kept them waiting, standing at the bar like common jerks, like we’ve all done while waiting for someone who wants to assert, wants to remind us, that their time is just a little more valuable than ours. I doubt the Clooneys experience that very often, if ever, but on Wednesday night, Sonia Sotomayor served them good.”

The Clooneys arrived early while Sonia Sotomayor reportedly arrived just in time for their dinner meeting. It was not reported, however, what they had for dinner last Wednesday night.

“The happy couple was spotted at Cipriani in Midtown Manhattan, where they met up with Justice Sonia Sotomayor for a quick drink before dinner on Wednesday evening,” People reported, “The Clooneys have been seen out and about in the Big Apple a lot as of late, as Amal is currently teaching at Columbia Law School while George, 53, shoots the New York-based movie Money Monster, directed by Jodie Foster and starring Julia Roberts.”

Justice Sotomayor had been chosen to launch the dropping of the Times Square ball on New Year’s Eve, the Inquisitr reported.

“Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor was chosen to launch the Times Square ball drop on New Year’s Eve. The ceremonial button will be pushed at 11:59 pm on December 31. In addition to pressing the button, Sotomayor will also lead the nation in the final 60-second countdown.”
