Jaden Smith Wears Dresses, Applauded On Twitter For Decision
Actor Jaden Smith made headlines recently with nothing more than a simple fashion decision.
The 16-year-old After Earth actor was photographed in Calabasas wearing denim shorts and black Nike sneakers. However, that is not exactly why the youngest son of Will Smith made headlines with his outfit. It was what he wore in addition to the short and sneakers.
Over the denim shorts was a distressed black sweatshirt dress. Instead of wearing a regular shirt, Smith decided to wear a white crocheted tank top. He could have accessorized his Nike sneakers with white socks, but decided to wear high leopard-print socks instead.

From the smiling expression on Jaden Smith’s face, it is clear that he was not ashamed of or embarrassed by his fashion decision at all.
He even tweeted about it on his official Twitter page Thursday.

Earlier this week, Jaden posted a picture of himself on Instagram wearing a different dress. At that time, he was wearing a black and white T-shirt dress at TopShop with his black Nike sneakers and black harem pants. In his caption, Jaden seemed to intentionally defy the presumed boundaries distinguishing between clothes for men and women.

Even though Jaden Smith has not made any publicized and verbal statements about his beliefs on the subject, it seems as if the “Hello” rapper is targeting gender-norms with a fashion statement instead. That is, at least, how quite a few people on Twitter have interpreted it.

Some people are even criticizing the double standard that seems to be presented between the fashion choices made by Jaden and his sister, Willow.
