‘GTA V’ Will Unlock Early For Some PC Users


For fans eager to get their hands on GTA V for PC, the wait is almost over.

In fact, according to multiple reports, Grand Theft Auto fans won’t even have to wait until the April 14 in their timezones. VentureBeat is reporting that the GTA V’s digital “switch” will be turned on at midnight April 14, British Summer Time. So for those who don’t know time zone conversions off the top of their head, VB has posted a full list of when it will unlock for you, updated with the timezone featured.

  • London: Midnight on April 14
  • Eastern: 7 p.m. on April 13
  • Central: 6 p.m. on April 13
  • Mountain: 5 p.m. on April 13
  • Pacific: 4 p.m. on April 13
  • Toronto: 7 p.m. EDT on April 13
  • Berlin: 1 a.m. CEST on April 14
  • Paris: 1 a.m. CEST on April 14

This means that for many fans of GTA V, the game will actually release for them on April 13. Those who are buying the physical version, which boasts seven install discs, will have to wait until the 14th in your area.

PC previews of the upcoming GTA V game have been releasing since Thursday, and so far the consensus has been that Grand Theft Auto V on PC is the definitive version of Rockstar’s epic. PC Gamer raved about how GTA Vlooks and feels at 4K60, with Sam Roberts saying that this is GTA V as he “always wanted to see it.” IGN praises the graphical clarity of GTA V at 4K, marveling at how crisp the images look despite the rendered object being all the way across San Andreas.

Rockstar has always touted GTA V on PC as the definitive version, making sure to point out that it is the only platform where you can enjoy GTA V in 60 frames-per-second, as well as 4K support. In addition, PC Gamer also reported on the full graphical options settings, something PC gamers crave, showing that the most discerning gamer will have 25 different options to tweak and get optimal performance out of GTA V on PC.

For those who can’t wait for the game to launch and want to start playing right when it unlocks, you can pre-load GTA V now on your PC through Steam and other digital distributors. If you’re waiting for reviews before you buy the game, you might be waiting, as it’s been revealed via an IGN editor on Twitter that review copies won’t be available until launch.
