Celine Dion Cancels More Las Vegas Shows Under Doctors Orders

Celine Dion has been forced to cancel more of her Caesars Palace shows in Las Vegas after a virus caused inflammation of her vocal cords.

The singers doctor ordered that she allow her vocal chords to rest for six to eight weeks which means she won’t take to the stage again until at least June 9.

In a statement to her fans Celine Dion wrote:

“I tried to sing at my sound check last week, and I had no control of my voice whatsoever. We thought that after a few days’ rest I would improve, but it wasn’t getting any better.”

Last week it was announced that Dion would not perform in shows through March 3 however it wasn’t until Monday that she was diagnosed with the viral illness.

Celine Dion met with Dr. Gerald Burke, an authority in laryngeal physiology who advised her that it was in her best interest to not sing for the next two months.

Dion had just returned to the $95 million Colosseum which was built for her to perform in 2003. Dion performed at the venue for five years and then embarked on a world tour and she just recently returned to Caesar’s Palace. The arena has a built in humidifier meant to protect the Canadian songstresses voice.

Ticket prices will be refunded for those who already bought a ticket. A single ticket for her Las Vegas performances can sell for up to $250 a piece.

Celine Dion says her doctor has ensured her that she will be back at 100% once the virus has fully passed through her system.

Do you think Celine is acting smart by given her voice the maximum amount of time needed to heal before she performs another show?
